Prof. Dr. Hany Marei is the Chair the Department of
Cytology&Histology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,
Mansoura University.

He had a Ph.D in
Cytology&Histology (October 1994) from the
University of Suez Canal as a part of a channel
system program.
He had finished his
thesis within the
facilities of Department of Biomedical Sciences at
Virginia-Maryland Regional Collage of Veterinary
Medicine, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University, Blacksburg, Virginia, USA (1992-1994).

His BA (1985) is from Alexandria University, and his
MA (1999) is from Suez Canal University, Egypt.
Prof. Dr. Marei's was appointed as a demonstrator of
Cytology&Histology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,
Suez Canal University (1986) where he obtained his
MA then he went to the USA as part of a channel
system program where he obtained his PhD in
Cytology&Histology.

After his arrival from the USA, he worked as a
lecturer of Cytology&Histology, Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine, Suez Canal University
(1994-1996) and then he moved to the Department of
Cytology and Histology, Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Mansoura University where he had promoted
to Assistant Professor (November, 1999), and to
Professor (2005). He is now the Chair of
Cytology&Histology Department, Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, Mansoura University.

Prof. Dr. Marei has taught the Cytology&Histology
courses at Virginia-Maryland Regional Collage of
Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Polytechnic Institute
and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia in the
United States, and is currently teaching at the
Mansoura University , Egypt.

He has won several
prestigious awards, including the Mansoura
University encouragement Award (2004), and his
biggest achievement was done during the year of 2005
when he is nominated as a winner of a big project
funded by Higher Education Enhancement Project Fund
(HEEPF), code number C-024-L0. The allocated budget
for this project was about 38 000$ and aimed
primary at development of distance learning
resources for some courses in the veterinary
curriculum.

Prof. Dr. Marei's has attended many workshops and
online courses about the potentiality of e-learning
and blended learning. His major efforts is
concentrated now on the development and maintaining
of innovated online courses within the veterinary
medical fields.

Beside managing his HEEPF-funded
project, he is now planning to initiate a bigger
project with an overall objective of establishment
of an online courses for the entire veterinary
medical curricula in Egypt.

In the summer of 2005, Prof. Dr. Marei had arranged
a national workshop about the development of
distance learning and online education for the
veterinary medical curricula.

Prof. Dr. Marei's research interests include the
application of all available histology and molecular
biology techniques (light microscopy, transmission
electron microscopy (TEM), Scanning electron
microscopy (SEM), immunohistochemistry, freez
fracture, Is situ hybridization, cloning as well as
other innovated techniques. Currently he is
supervising two master thesis and one PHD thesis
dealing with the structural, electron microscopy and
immunohistochemistry of the cornea of rats as well
as the immune organs in chicken's and camels.

Prof. Dr. Marei's was the winner of the best soccer
player at the level of the Mansoura University staff
members (2004).
