 Prof. Dr. Hany Marei has got his PhD as Joint Channel system between Virginia-Maryland Regional Collage of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State University, USA, and Suze Canal University, Egypt at 1994. He is a full professor since 2005.

From 2012 -2015 he served as a member for Veterinary Academic Committee for promotion of Assistant Professors and Professors at the Supreme Counsel of the Egyptian University.

From May 2015 he moved to Qatar where he worked as a Research Professor and Project Manager for Biomedical Research Center (BRC) at Qatar University (QU). During this period he published more than 25 international publications, awarded three major projects, and participated as PI in two projects related to Qatar Genome Projects, participated as members of several managerial committee  at QU such as Health Cluster taskforce committee, IBC committee, intellectual properties committee, and QU international Ranking Committee. He also participated in ISO 17025 Accreditation for two diagnostic molecular tests at BRC, QU. During the period between 2015-2018 he has attended 6 international conferences in USA, and Germany as well as an International Bioinformatics workshop in Lahore, Pakistan. He has organized more than 30 seminars tackling different topic in Biomedical Research. He has awarded two prestigious awards during the period between 2015-2018 (QU): best Research award in 2015, and honorably mentioned in the World Stem Cell Summit held in Atlanta. Georgia, 2015). He has participated in the organization of one international conference (International Conference for Pathogen at Human Animal Interface, ICOPHI), and two international workshops about Stem cells and Tissue Engineering and Emerging Pathogens.

His research interest lies in the field of stem cells, genomics of brain cancer & neurological diseases, and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T immunotherapy. He has experience in using multiple molecular techniques such stem cell culture, tissue banks, WGS, WES, gene expression, pathway analysis, RNA-seq, and single cells RNA-seq.

He published more than 60 papers of which 42 papers have been published in international web of sciences-indexed high impact factors journals such as PLOS, Genomics, Molecular Cancer, JCP, Oncotarget, Spinal Cord, Frontier in Neurology, Scientific Reports, Am J Stem Cells, J Cell Mol Med, Biochem Pharmacol, J Cell Physiol., Int J Nanomedicine, BMC Cancer, J Tissue Eng Regen Med., Front Neurol., J Diabetes Res., World J Emerg Surg., Future Microbiol., Mol Cancer).

In 2016, he published a book chapter (with Bentham Science Publishers (eBook series “Frontiers in Clinical Drug Research-Alzheimer Disorder; Vol. 4” entitled “Recent perspective about the amyloid cascade hypothesis and stem cell-based therapy in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease”. He also published a book entitled “Human Olfactory Bulb Neural Stem Cells for Cell-based Therapy of Traumatic and Neurodegenerative CNS Disorders, LAMBERST, 2016.

Dr. Marei was participated as PI for a project entitled “Pharmacogenomics Landscape of Qatari Population” where he is involved in analysis of the whole genomic sequence data of more than 7000 Qatari.

In 2017, Dr. Marei has awarded a GCC-funded project in collaboration with Nizwa University, Oman entitled: “Use of patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to study stroke in Qatar and GCC countries. The approved funds is $ 600000

In 2018, Dr. Marei has awarded a High Impact Project funded by QU entitled “ FCy Chimeric Receptor T cells and monoclonal antibodies for Glioblastoma multiform immunotherapy: In vitro and in vivo Studies”.  The approved funds is QR 800,500.

Dr. Marei has secured more than $2 000 000 as fund for his research during the period between 2005-2018 from different national, and regional funding agencies such as STDF, Ministry of Higher Education, Qatar University, and NPRP programs.

From 2018 till present, he serves as a Chair of Veterinary Academic Committee for promotion of Assistant Professors and Professors at the Supreme Counsel of the Egyptian University. He participated in the promotion of more than 50 Assistant professors and professors in different field of academic veterinary sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Histology).
