Classification of epithelium
The epithelium is classified into four types:
- Epithelial membranes
- Gandular epithelium
- Myoepithelium
- Neuroepithelium
Epithelial Membranes
Classification
A. According to the number of cell layers
The epithelial membranes are classified into:
- Simple Epithelium: consists of a single layer of cells.
- Compound Epithelium: consists of two or more than two layers of cells.
Epithelium
The epithelium is a sheet of cells that covers body surface, lines hollow organs or modified to form glands and neuroepithelium.
